Consular Attestation

Attestation Services

The Consulate General will provide attestation services for various documents required by Nepali nationals. Applicants must submit all required supporting documents as outlined below.

A. Attestation of documents issued by Nepali authorities

Required Documents:

  1. Duly filled in Attestation Application Form (click here for the form)
  2. Original document(s) and a photocopy of each document to be attested.
  3. Copy of the applicant's Passport and Citizenship Certificate.
  4. Attested copies (with seal and signature) of the original document(s) from the Department of Consular Services of Nepal.
  5. Proof of U.S. immigration Status (such as Visa, Green Card).
  6. Fees for the service is $50.00
  7. Self-addressed prepaid return envelope with a tracking number (Not required for self-pickup).

B. Attestation of Marriage Certificate

Required Documents:

  1. Duly filled in Attestation Application Form. (Click here for the form)
  2. Original and a copy of the Marriage Certificate, issued by the District Administration Office or Local Authorities (VDC/Municipality).
  3. Copy of both husband and wife's Passport and Citizenship Certificate.
  4. Attested copy (with seal and signature) of the original document(s) from the Department of Consular Services of Nepal.
  5. Proof of U.S. Status (such as Visa, Green Card).
  6. Fees for the service is $50.00
  7. Self-addressed prepaid return envelope with a tracking number (Not required for self-pickup).

C. Attestation of Police Clearance Certificate

Required Documents:

  1. Duly filled Attestation Application Form. (Click here for the form)
  2. A colored printed copy of the Police Report issued by Nepal Police and attested by the Department of Consular Services of Nepal.
  3. Copy of the applicant's Passport and Citizenship Certificate.
  4. Fees for the service is $50.00
  5. Self-addressed prepaid return envelope with a tracking number (Not required for self-pickup)

Authentication of Documents Issued by U.S. authorities:

For the attestation of documents issued by competent U.S. authorities, applicants must complete the following steps before sending them to the Consulate General:

  1. Notarization: Have the document notarized by a notary public.
  2. State Authentication: Authenticate the document from the Office of the Secretary of State of the State where the document was issued.
  3. Federal Authentication: Obtain authentication from the Office of Authentications, U.S. Department of State.

General Certification

The Consulate General may issue certification on the basis of authentic documents issued by competent Nepali authorities upon request by the applicant. The Consulate General may duly verify the documents and the information/details before such certification.

Required documents

  1. Duly filled Attestation Application Form. (Click here for the form)
  2. Original and a copy of the document that the applicant wants to get certified
  3. Proof of U.S. Status (such as Visa, Green Card).
  4. Fees for the service is $50.00
  5. Self-addressed prepaid return envelope with a tracking number (Not required for self-pickup).

Processing Time: Processing time may take up to 3 business days.
